Stasher bags are amazing! You can use them in every room of the house, for almost any outdoor activity, and everything in between. But they’re a pricey sustainable swap and I find that a lot of people like to learn about their possible uses before making the investment themselves.

Stasher bags are freezer, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe
up to 425 Fº so the uses are endless. Here’s a list 15 of the ways I use mine almost every day, they might help you figure out how to use your Stasher bags too.

Kitchen

1. Packing Sandwiches

An obvious use for the sandwich Stasher! I also use the stand up mini and mid for sandwiches. I think having a mix of sizes is important.

But, you should be warned. The sandwich Stasher bag isn’t always the best choice for sandwiches. I provide all the details in
review if you want more details on why.

2. Saving Space

Before Stasher blessed my pantry, I used glass food storage all the time. But Stasher bags save so much space compared to bulky glass containers. That makes them extra handy in my fridge, freezer, and especially my lunchbox.

3. Meat Marinade

I found a video/blog with seven recipes for chicken marinades and they are delicious! I make them in my Stasher bags and then freeze them.

To prepare, I simply defrost in the fridge over the course of a day and then bake them in the oven according to the recipe. You can bake in Stasher bags, just make sure you have them sitting on a sheet pan if you do.

4. Steaming Veggies

I love steaming carrots and asparagus. Just add salt, pepper, and butter to taste along with water (for the steam) and toss into the microwave. Make sure to vent the seal too.

This is quick and easy for lunch on the go or dinner at home. I recommend using a Stasher stand-up bag or bowl. Those stand up on their own so you don’t have to prop them against something in the microwave.

5. Smoothie Prep

Throw your solid ingredients into the bags, put them in the freezer, and add to the blender when ready. This one is a nice time-saving hack if you want a quick breakfast in the morning without all the prep steps.

6. Storing Fruits and Veggies

Maybe you bought too many strawberries for the week, that’s okay! Throw them in a Stasher and freeze them for later. (This also works great with excess meat too.)

For this kind of usage, Stasher recommends pairing the Stasher color to the food color. For example, use a blue or purple bag for blueberries and blackberries.

7. Miscellaneous food storage

Sometimes when I’ve got a bag of opened food I’ll stick it in a Stasher and put it back in the cabinet. Stasher is great for the random things you need to secure around the house.

8. Restaurant Leftovers

Stashers are great for this because they fit so easily into a pocket or purse. Just open it up and slide your leftovers in when you’re ready.

If you’re looking to store liquids on-the go, I’d recommend the Stasher bowls. Regular Stasher bags tend to open pretty easily when they’re just holding fluid.

On-the-Go

9. Snacks, duh!

My go-to snack is trail mix. I love the snack Stasher for this. If I’m looking to store several snacks together in one larger bag, then you might also like the half gallon size.

10. Phone/Key/Cash Protection

I live near the beach and keeping your phone safe from the blowing sand or water is a must. So, I use Stasher bags to keep my things dry and sand free! AND (bonus points) you even have some functionality of the screen through the bag.

I use the half gallon for larger items like a phone and keys but you might also like their go-bag. The pocket Stasher is great for small things like cash and coins.

11. Medications

Speaking of the pocket Stasher bag, I’ve also used it to store medications on-the-go and things like chapstick or mints. This keeps your pills from collecting lint and touching dirty keys. Or, like with chapstick, it just helps keep my small items from getting lost in a backpack.

12. Packing Toiletries

There’s actually a couple uses here. I use the pocket Stasher, in addition to tip #11, for things like Q-Tips and small bars of soap.

You can also use the larger bags to keep your toiletries together. If you travel with a lot of lotions and liquid products, Stasher bags will help contain spills and keep your items together.

They are TSA approved, just make sure to check the TSA guidelines or the Stasher site for the specifics.

13. Coffee

If you’re traveling and just cannot live without your specific roast, the sandwich Stasher is perfect for storing coffee. It will hold the perfect amount of coffee, up to several days worth for 1 person.

14. Cable Storage

Nowadays, we all travel with multiple charging cables. One for the watch, the computer, your phone, your laptop, and on and on. Stasher bags are great at helping you store and organize them. They’re also less likely to get tangled in a Stasher in my experience.

This is a great use if you have a bag that might have been damaged serving a different purpose in your life.

15. Ice Pack

Not as flexible as a plastic bag (ew gross, single-use plastic) but better for the planet. Plastic bags get holes in them, my Stasher ice packs have yet to get damaged.

Just make sure you don’t fall asleep with them. Stasher bags tend to open with only a little pressure if they’re full of fluid. The last thing you want is ice cold water waking you up from a nice deep sleep.
