30 Eco-Friendly Stocking Stuffers You Can Buy for Anyone

Whether you are the sustainable shopper, or you’re shopping for someone who is, this list will help you find the perfect eco-friendly stocking stuffers for this gift-giving season. Stocking stuffers can be really wasteful, but they don’t have to be. Rather than purchasing a bunch of little things that are individually wrapped in plastic, I’ve compiled gift ideas that often come with little to no packaging or has compostable or recyclable packaging. 

 

These gift ideas range in price from $9 to $30+ depending what quantity you order. There will be something here for everyone, from young teens and college students to wisest family members.

1) TruEarth Detergent Sheets

TruEarth detergent sheets replace big heavy laundry detergent bottles. They’re super thin and dissolve right in your washer. These are a super popular plastic-free laundry alternative!

2) Facial Cleansing Bars

Ethique, Etee, and Meow Meow Tweet are all well-known makers for facial cleansing bars. I’ve personally tried Ethique’s and Etee’s bars and LOVE them! These are great options for any and everyone, whether they’re actively looking to replace plastic bottles in their bathroom or not!

3) Bar Shampoo and Conditioner

Bar shampoo and conditioner are a great way to cut plastic out of your bathroom routine. You can find these all over the internet, at your local Whole Foods, and even Target. They add a fun twist to your usual shower routine while minimizing waste.

4) Leaf Razor

Leaf has two well-known razors. I’ve tried the Twig razor and it’s amazing! Leaf razors are durable and don’t use any plastic. The blades are also cheap and easily refilled. Leaf will even recycle old blades for you, which makes this razor a great sustainable swap for anyone that shaves. 

5) Reusable Straws

Reusable straws an inexpensive gift that most people will really utilize. Check out this post to help figure out what kind you should buy and who they’d be perfect for!

Anyone that removes makeup these days likely uses something to get it off at the end of a tough day. Reusable cotton rounds reduce the waste that comes from disposable makeup removing wipes so they can even save some money. These are a really thoughtful gift!

8) Stasher Bags

9) Reusable Water Bottle or Mug

Another sustainable classic, reusable beverage containers are great for almost everyone! Klean Kanteen makes long lasting, durable, stainless steel containers of all kinds. They also have a ton of lid options which really makes for a versatile bottle/mug. 

10) Plastic-Free Lip Balm

The frigid cold temperatures can really wreak havoc on your lips. Lip balm is an essential for avoiding cracked and chapped lips. Etee offers a plastic-free version worth checking out!

Dropps laundry detergent is another great way to reduce plastic use in the laundry room. These are my go pods. I also love their oxi-boost pods, they really compliment the detergent and keep my whites super white! These are great for parents, singles, and even students.

Grove’s dish soap is wonderful! Part of what makes it so great is that comes in recyclable aluminum rather than plastic. You can order these directly from Grove but you can also find them at your local Target too. 

14) Bath Bombs

Bath bombs are a great way to treat someone to a self-care evening. We all need a little pampering these days and bath bombs are such a fun way to add a little luxury to your steamy soak. I’d recommend buying locally if you can, and defintiely avoid plastic!

16) Compostable Floss

Sticking to oral hygiene, natural fiber floss is the perfect refillable solution to those tiny plastic containers that end up in a landfill. You can easily find glass or metal containers online! I’ve been trying Etee’s floss and I really like it so far!

17) Beeswax Wraps

Beeswax wraps replace plastic bags and plastic wrap. They’re used to cover bowls, wrap leftover whole foods, and more. Beeswax wraps are typically made from organic cotton and beeswax which means you can compost them as well. They’re a truly great zero waste kitchen tool.

Who Gives A Crap…is toilet paper! So clever, so creative. This toilet paper is made from bamboo, and that’s only one reason it’s more sustainable than what you’d normally buy. They also come wrapped in cute tissue paper so no gift wrap is needed for these!

20) Bar Soap Body Wash

Everyone needs body wash, which makes bar soap an easy way to reduce plastic consumption. Personally, I love Dr. Bronner’s. They come in a variety of colors and have enjoyable  scents. I’d also recommend shopping locally if you can. Check out my Dr. Bronner’s review here

21) Reusable Produce Bags

Reusable produce bags help to eliminate those thin green bags people use in the produce section. They’re slightly less versatile, compared to regular grocery bags. But I’m a fan of anything that helps reduce our reliance on single-use plastics.

23) Shave Soap

Shave soap eliminates the need for wasteful aerosol cans. I’ve been using the shave soap from Leaf and I’m enjoying it. Shave soap can be used anywhere you need to shave. And even though it takes some getting used to, I don’t ever want to go back to a can. (Pro Tip: You can lather with your hand, but you might also want to provide a shaving brush.)

24) Plastic Free Face Scrubs

Face scrubs are another great way to treat someone to some much needed self care. These pair perfectly with other bath products like bath bombs and bar shampoo. Ethique has a plastic free, palm oil free, and vegan gingersnap face scrub. It’s definitely worth checking out!

25) Bamboo Cutlery

If someone you know takes lunch to work or school, dines out often, or get’s to-go frequently then bamboo cutlery is perfect for them. Bamboo cutlery helps to reduce the need for single-use disposable plastic cutlery.

Dropps dish detergent is by far my favorite dish detergent pods to use. They’re plastic free and zero waste (as long as you recycled). They never leave my dishes with spots, and they always get the job done. I recommend them for everyone, you cannot go wrong with these. 

27) Soap Savers

If you’re buying someone a bar of soap (body, face, or shave soap) they’re going to need some kind of soap saver. This helps the soap stay dry so it doesn’t dissolve in any sitting water. There are a ton of different options out there so you’ll have no trouble finding the perfect one!

28) Lotion Bars

Lotion bars can be a fun and interesting way to replace body lotion that comes in plastic pump bottles. You’ll likely need to find these online but they’ll pair really well with any of the other bar-themed selfcare gifts from this list and reduce plastic consumption at the same time!

Dryer balls replace wasteful single-use dryer sheets. They help minimize static, wrinkles, and are even known to reduce drying time. Most dryer balls will last about 1,000 loads. These stocking stuffers will save your loved one time and money! It doesn’t get better than that. 

30) Silicone Baking Mats

Last on the list is a kitchen swap! Silicone baking mats are perfect for the bakers in your life. These replace any kind of disposable paper or foil you would usually line a pan with. They can be reused in the oven over and over. They also replace oil spray too!
